About this board game
The Eastern Front: 1914-1917 is a two-player historical wargame covering six major campaigns of the First World War, with an advertised play time of 360 minutes. Released in 2012, it presents the Eastern Front at a scale of 20 kilometers per hex, with turns representing four days and units representing divisions or brigades.
The game includes six separate scenarios, each focused on a distinct military crisis. Tannenberg: Eagles in the East explores the German counterattack against two Russian armies, while Galicia: The Forgotten Cauldron portrays the shifting struggle between the Austro-Hungarian and Russian forces in southern Poland. Serbia the Defiant centers on Serbia’s determined resistance to an Austro-Hungarian invasion.
Three further games follow later campaigns. Gorlice-Tarnow Breakthrough depicts the German-led offensive and the pursuit of the Russian Army across Poland. The 1916 Brusilov Offensive covers Russia’s wide-front assault against the Austro-Hungarian lines, while Romania: Transylvanian Gambit presents the Romanian invasion of Transylvania and the counter-invasion from the south.
