About this board game

The Four Doors is a 2025 game for 1–5 players that plays in about 30 minutes. The Shadow Veil is spreading darkness, and your challenge is to collect the relic behind each door, gather everyone at the beacon, and light it before the land is lost.

On each turn, a player may take up to three actions. Draw a card, move to an adjacent door, or give a card or relic to someone at your door. You can also illuminate a shadow card by discarding a card with a lantern of the matching color, or find a door’s relic by discarding four cards matching that door’s color.

  • Adventurer powers: Each adventurer modifies an action or provides a new one.
  • Relic powers: Once found, a relic can be used by discarding a card bearing its symbol.
  • Rising danger: The shadow level increases whenever the deck must be shuffled.

At the end of a turn, draw two cards, then place shadows from the deck equal to the current shadow level. If a fourth card would be placed on either side of a door, that door flips to its partially closed side. A second flip removes it from play—and if its relic has not been found, the players lose.

Cards steadily become more precious as the game progresses. Some spells provide a one-time effect and are removed from play instead of being discarded, causing the shadow level to rise more quickly. The players also lose if there are no cards left to shuffle or if the shadow level reaches its maximum. In The Four Doors, every action and discarded card matters as you race to complete the relic hunt and ignite the beacon.
