The Great War: French Army Expansion is a two-player expansion for The Great War, offering 12 scenarios set during the Battle of Verdun and designed for games of about 90 minutes.
Focusing on the French Army’s most famous campaign, this expansion covers the Battle of Verdun, which lasted from February to December 1916. The scenarios highlight the strength and fortitude of the French armed forces during this pivotal period of the First World War.
The box includes a rule and scenario book, special personnel and terrain summary sheets, double-sided terrain tiles, tokens, markers, and a complete French force of plastic poilus. These components add a dedicated French presence to the core game and support all 12 Verdun scenarios.

The 14 special personnel figures include engineers, flame-throwers, light machine gunners, and spotters. Adding one of these figures to a unit allows that unit to modify its normal actions according to the attached specialist, introducing new rules to the core game.
