About this board game
The Last Crusade is a two-player World War II combat game with approximately 120 minutes of play, recreating the Allied campaign from the hedgerows of Normandy to the crossing of the Rhine and the capture of Germany’s industrial heartland.
Each player commands an army regiment as either the U.S. or German side. Platoon-sized infantry, armor, artillery, air, and support units are represented by playing cards, evoking the feel of simple miniatures play while keeping the action within a collectible card game format.
The central objective is decisive victory: overrun the opposing headquarters. This is easiest to achieve when commanding the well-provisioned invading Americans, while the heavily armed but somewhat beleaguered Germans may need to cripple and halt the enemy offensive instead.
- Two-player World War II combat set across the Allied campaign in Western Europe
- U.S. and German forces with different strategic challenges
- Platoon-sized infantry, armor, artillery, air, and support units represented by cards
- Victory through a headquarters overrun or by crippling the opponent’s offensive
Success depends on shrewd tactics, careful use of resources, and the sheer guts of battle-hardened commanders. Every decision contributes to the struggle between an advancing Allied force and a determined German defense.
Released in 1995, The Last Crusade was sold through starter decks and booster packs, with two starter decks required at minimum to play. Starters and boosters favor rares well, making collection easy for players who want to expand their forces.
