The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – Nightmare Decks: Over Hill and Under Hill is a 60-card expansion for 1–2 players, with play sessions lasting about 60 minutes.

This expansion lets players revisit the three scenarios from The Hobbit: Over Hill and Under Hill Saga Expansion in the game’s challenging Nightmare Mode. It contains three Nightmare Decks, each designed to reshape one enhanced scenario with new encounter cards and scenario-specific rules.

Each deck introduces deadlier enemies, darker locations, and more terrifying surprises. The added cards greatly increase the challenges of the scenarios they enhance while also bringing subtle plot twists and thematic alterations to familiar adventures.

Nightmare Decks are used to revisit favorite scenarios in a more demanding form. Their alternate encounter cards and instructions change how the scenario’s encounter deck works, creating a darker version of the original experience without replacing its scenario-specific identity.

The three decks in this expansion were also contained in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – Game Night Kit 2014 Season One. To play, you need The Lord of the Rings: The Core Set and The Hobbit: Over Hill and Under Hill Saga Expansion.
