About this board game

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers – Trick-Taking Game is a 2026 co-operative card game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 20 minutes. It brings Tolkien’s Middle-earth to the table through a narrative-driven trick-taking adventure based on The Two Towers.

This standalone game continues the series with chapters 19–36 of the story. The chapters can be played in any order, and you do not need to play The Fellowship of the Ring: Trick-Taking Game first, although playing the games in sequence is ideal.

In every chapter, players take on different character roles, including heroes and villains. Each character has a specific condition that must be met to pass the chapter and move the story forward. As the journey develops, new characters, items, and challenges are introduced.

  • Co-operative trick-taking: Work together to satisfy each character’s condition.
  • The One Ring: The game’s only trump card, with rings initially unable to be led until one is played off-suit.
  • Story-driven progression: Explore 18 chapters that can be tackled in flexible order.

The two-player game includes a dummy hand assigned to a character. Some of its cards are face up and others face down, while one human player plays cards for the dummy based on which cards are free to play.

In solitaire play, one player manages four face-up hands. Each hand receives a character, only a few cards are available at a time, and after every trick, each hand is dealt a new card. With its focused rules and evolving challenges, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers – Trick-Taking Game offers a compact cooperative journey through Middle-earth.
