About this board game
The Mob is a 1993 strategy game for 3–6 players that takes about 60 minutes to play. As a sequel to Mafioso, it challenges players to build wealth through illegal businesses before reinvesting those gains into legitimate enterprises.
Each turn, players use the cards they have been dealt in sequence. These cards help families take control of businesses by placing their family members where they can expand their influence and pursue the game’s central economic objective.
Control can change suddenly when one family wrests a business away from another. Any members of the displaced family who were there are sent to “sleep with the fishes,” adding a direct and dramatic consequence to every takeover.
- Players: 3–6
- Play time: about 60 minutes
- Core objective: make money through illegal businesses and reinvest it in legitimate businesses
- Card-driven turns: use dealt cards sequentially to take control of businesses
The Mob combines business development with contested control, asking players to balance the profits of criminal ventures against the long-term value of legitimate businesses. Every attempt to expand can also disrupt another family and remove its members from the business in question.
Also published as Capone, The Mob re-implements Mafioso while retaining the family-centered struggle for business control. Its blend of sequential card play, illegal enterprises, reinvestment, and takeover consequences creates a focused crime-themed strategy experience for groups of three to six.
