About this expansion

The Quacks of Quedlinburg: Wolfgang’s Exchange Office is a mini-expansion for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes. It adds new scoring conditions that players can pursue throughout the game using a shared test tube stand.

This expansion can only be played with the front sides of the cauldrons, because each player uses an extra droplet. Assemble the two-part stand and place it in the center of the table, with either the brown or green side facing up. Each player places an unused droplet of their color on the leftmost test tube.

Whenever you have the opportunity to move your droplet, you may move it in your cauldron as usual or advance it one test tube to the right. Choosing when to use these movements creates a new decision throughout the game, as reaching different test tubes changes the way your final score or shopping coins can be used.

• Brown side: At the end of the game, total the values of all chips in your bag and cauldron, including white chips. Divide this total by the value of the test tube holding your droplet, then add the result to your final score.
• Green side: During the game, you may spend shopping coins to buy victory points as well as ingredients. The test tube value determines the price of each victory point, and you may buy as many as you can afford each round.

On the brown side, advancing farther can make the end-game calculation more rewarding: a chip total of 60 earns 4 victory points at a value of 15, but 30 victory points at a value of 2. On the green side, the stand instead shapes the cost of purchasing victory points.
