About this board game

The Sanctuary: Endangered Species is a worker placement board game for 2–4 players, with games taking about 60 minutes. Each player creates a sanctuary for endangered animal species, developing a safe environment where they can live and thrive.

Your sanctuary begins with land that must be carefully shaped into a suitable habitat. Replace non-indigenous plants with native ones, improve living conditions, and care for animals that may have been wounded by human violence or rescued from illegal trade. Volunteers and rangers help you develop your facility and keep its inhabitants safe and happy.

At the beginning of each round, a row of cards is laid out. Every card offers a main action and a side action, and players take turns placing their workers on these cards. A worker can perform its card’s main action, along with side actions that are within its line of sight.

• Place workers to access important actions.
• Use line of sight, which can be limited by other workers and obstacles printed on the cards.
• Find new animals and improve their living conditions.
• Develop the sanctuary with the help of volunteers and rangers.
