About this board game

The Two Heirs is a competitive strategy tableau-building game for 1–2 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Players represent siblings seeking to impress their royal father with the ability to rule—and claim the crown.

Build cards featuring buildings by managing three resources: wood, grain, and stone. The buildings available for construction are selected from a rondel of cards, while the number of warbands placed on the rondel determines which cards can be chosen.

Warbands are central to more than card selection. New buildings can only be built within the reach of a warband, and the resources available are determined in a similar way. Moving warbands therefore becomes a vital part of planning, connecting the rondel, resource access, and tableau development.

  • Players: 1–2
  • Play time: about 60 minutes
  • Resources: wood, grain, and stone
  • Core systems: tableau building, a card rondel, and warband movement

The game includes six interchangeable modules, each containing nine buildings. Before each game, players select three modules, changing the available building options and giving The Two Heirs substantial replay value across different sessions.

Every decision contributes to the contest between the heirs: choose which buildings to pursue, position warbands to extend your reach, and manage access to the resources needed for construction. The player who best demonstrates the ability to rule takes the crown.
