About this board game
The White Tribe: Rhodesia’s War 1966-1980 is a solitaire game for one player, with an approximate play time of 180 minutes. You play the White government of Rhodesia, attempting to hold back a Black guerrilla army while guiding the country toward Black majority rule.
This distinctive game combines military and political play in a single tense challenge. Your armed forces must fight guerrillas, but battlefield strength alone is not enough. You must also fight elections, pass bills, and persuade colonialist voters to accept compromise and reform.
Every policy decision creates difficult trade-offs. Advancing generous positions may improve African public opinion, yet risk alienating the European voters whose support keeps your government in power. Meanwhile, foreign states judge the pace and direction of your reforms. They may respond with economic sanctions or military strikes if they believe your government is not moving as they expect.
- Play solo as the White government of Rhodesia.
- Balance military operations with elections, legislation, and political persuasion.
- Manage competing pressures from African public opinion, European voters, and foreign states.
- Contend with the instability of Portugal and the strategic importance of its empire in Mozambique.
The situation is further complicated by the unstable Portuguese presence in Mozambique, which is vital to your strategic safety. Extremists on every side threaten your plans, forcing you to use every available military and political tool.
In The White Tribe, victory is not simply a matter of defeating an opposing army. Your aim is to build a government based on justice and equality while surviving the military, electoral, domestic, and international pressures surrounding Rhodesia’s war.
