About this board game
The Witcher: Path of Destiny – Ronin is a stand-alone game for 1–5 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Set in an alternate world shaped by Japanese folklore, it offers a fresh take on the Path of Destiny system.
Choose from characters including Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, Jaskier, Vesemir, and Triss, each reimagined for this setting. Geralt, Vesemir, and Ciri wield katanas, Jaskier moves crowds of geisha with a biwa, while Triss and Yennefer charm samurai along their journeys.
Story cards are replaced by beautifully illustrated Round cards. At the end of each round, players earn Victory Points for the symbol they jointly collected less of and Experience Points for the symbol they collected more of. This unusual scoring system encourages constant balance in each player’s tableau and rewards careful strategic decisions.
- Partnership Tracks: Five double-sided tracks connect neighboring players and create shared opportunities.
- Action cards: A new, larger deck introduces symbols and effects that often require neighbors to coordinate their tactics.
- Character abilities: Special cards let players use the abilities of companions sitting beside them.
Ronin supports competitive play while placing a strong emphasis on cooperation. Players must pursue their own goals while working with each neighbor to climb shared tracks and gain valuable bonuses.
With two players, an Automa provides an additional participant; solo play uses two Automa. They play cards and enable cooperation tracks without collecting points themselves. In the solo variant, choose a character, neighboring characters, and a difficulty level, then pursue Victory Points alongside a special Victory Condition. The many character, difficulty, and starting-layout combinations give The Witcher: Path of Destiny – Ronin substantial replayability.
