About this board game

The World Cup Card Game 2010 is a football tournament card game for 2–8 players that lets you play through the whole competition in around 75 minutes.

The game includes 65 cards: 32 national team cards, 32 Action cards, and a summary card explaining their uses. Teams are randomly divided between the players and kept face-down until they are needed. During the group stage, the teams are revealed and played through the matches in tournament order.

Each team card shows the team’s colors, national flag, and best-ever World Cup performance. It also indicates how many cards the team receives in the group stage and whether its 2 Goal and 3 Goal symbols are available at full strength. Stronger teams generally offer more options, while the differences between teams remain smaller than in the World Cup Board Game.

For each group match, the players controlling the two teams secretly choose between one and four cards from their hands. Reveal the choices together to determine the score. Goals, Attacks, Penalties, Defences, Fouls, and Offsides can all affect the result, while spare Attacks and Penalties may require a draw from the unused deck to see whether they become goals.

  • Group stage: resolve every match and record the results.
  • Round of 16: use shared card dealing and play cards on any active team until the deck is exhausted.
  • Quarter-finals onward: play each round’s matches simultaneously, with draws resolved by card draws.

With its compact card system and complete tournament structure, The World Cup Card Game 2010 offers a quick way to recreate the drama of the competition while keeping every match focused on secret choices and changing scorelines.
