About this board game

Third Crusade is a 1–4 player board game about the struggle to conquer Jerusalem and reclaim the Holy Land, with games lasting around 180 minutes. Released in 2025, it places players amid the conflict between the crusading forces and Saladin’s Ayyubid dynasty and the Turkomans.

Richard Lionheart and the Angevine have joined with knights from the Holy Roman Empire. Together, they face the armies defending the cities and deserts of Palestine, where control of the region must be won through careful planning and determined action.

Players plan their actions alongside an ally before the partnership can turn into a contest for victory. Cooperation is therefore closely tied to betrayal: work together when necessary, then turn against your former ally and claim the win for yourself.

  • Fight for control of cities and deserts across Palestine.
  • Deploy cavalry and siege engines against your enemies.
  • Plan actions with an ally before pursuing your own victory.
  • Manage the need for water as armies move and prepare for battle.

Water is a crucial concern for every force in Third Crusade. Cavalry and siege engines need it, and an army that runs dry may perish before it ever reaches the enemy. This creates a constant challenge as you decide how to move, where to fight, and when your forces are ready to clash.

With shifting alliances, battles for strategic locations, and armies threatened by thirst, Third Crusade combines cooperation and rivalry in a campaign for Jerusalem and the Holy Land.
