About this board game
Thread Count is a quick roll-and-write game for 2–6 players that takes about 5 minutes. Players extend a thread of wool across the carpet toward the cat’s paw, collecting valuable items while avoiding porcelain cups.
On each turn, roll a six-sided die and draw your thread for the number of segments shown. The thread must be drawn in a straight line, although it may bend off once during a turn. If the line passes over an item, you collect it.
The carpet offers several targets to gather as you extend your thread:
- Socks
- Paper airplanes
- Mice
- Porcelain cups, which should be avoided
Once the first player has collected the first set of items, a timer sets in and triggers the end of the game. This creates a clear finish as players continue managing their thread and aiming for the best possible score.
At the end, players score points for each collected item, for sets of items, and for ending their thread at the cat’s paw. Tipped-over porcelain cups cost points, so extending your line is not only about collecting as much as possible; it is also about choosing a careful route across the carpet.
With its simple die roll, direct drawing rule, and multiple scoring opportunities, Thread Count delivers a compact challenge for two or more players. The player with the most total points wins.
