About this expansion

BGO Extended 2.0 expansion (fan expansion for Through the Ages) is a fan-made expansion for 2–4 players, with an approximate play time of 240 minutes. It adds new leaders, wonders, and a tactical card while making selected changes to existing cards.

At the beginning of the game, the expansion’s leaders and wonders are mixed with those from the base game. Four cards are then selected for each age, so the number of cards used does not change. Players can choose to reveal the selected cards in advance or keep them hidden until they are drawn from the civil deck.

• 8 new leaders: two for each age, including Confucius, Ramesses II, Charlemagne, Marco Polo, James Watt, Thomas Jefferson, Pierre de Coubertin, and Thomas Cook.
• 8 new wonders: two for each age, including the Colosseum, Parthenon, Angkor Wat, Forbidden City, Harvard College, Statue of Liberty, Manhattan Project, and Olympic Games.
• New tactic: Hussars, an Age II card with cavalry and artillery strength values.

The new leaders support varied strategies. They can improve temples, farms, mines, urban buildings, colonies, special technologies, arenas, or wonders, while the new wonders offer effects involving military actions, culture, science, happy faces, consumption, civil actions, tokens, and protection from war.

BGO Extended 2.0 also revises several existing cards. Hammurabi no longer removes a military action, Johann Sebastian Bach receives stronger theater discounts, and the Kremlin is adjusted to provide one sad face. Elvis Presley is renamed Charles Chaplin, while the Napoleonic Army and Classic Army receive updated strength values. Together, these changes create a different card mix in each game of Through the Ages.
