About this expansion
Thunderstone Advance: Root of Corruption is a 2012 expansion for 1–5 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes. It introduces new challenges and an all-new cooperative way to play in the Thunderstone Advance series.
The tunnels beneath Cheah Dell have been cleared, the lost dwarven kingdom of Caligin reclaimed, and the djinni lich Mowtil defeated. Yet Doom’s plans are now fully revealed: he has corrupted the heart of Tala, Dun Ordha, while a monstrous army marches on the capital.
With the final Thunderstone held by King Caelan, the adventurers must race ahead of the invading army. They face the threat of a siege outside the city walls and a sickly corruption spreading within them.
As the second expansion for Thunderstone Advance, Root of Corruption adds a substantial collection of new content, including:
- Ruinous sin incarnates and vicious scavenger gnolls
- Thrall summoners capable of bringing back memorable foes
- Seven new heroes and six new monster groups
- Fifteen new village cards
- A new poster map board designed to create options for cooperative play using existing cards and rules
The expansion also reprints all Ambusher cards from Towers of Ruin and Caverns of Bane with updated graphics for improved visibility. With its advancing army, corrupted capital, and cooperative options, Thunderstone Advance: Root of Corruption continues the unfolding struggle for Tala with a fresh set of dangers and ways to play.
