About this board game

Ticket to Ride: Ghost Train is a route-building board game for 2–4 players that takes about 30 minutes and adapts the Ticket to Ride gameplay for a younger audience.

Players collect colorful parade float cards, claim paths on a city map, and try to connect the locations shown on their tickets. Destinations include the Mad Scientist’s Lab, the Gingerbread House, and the Lonely Barn, giving the game a spooky setting for its ghost-train routes.

Each player begins with four colored parade float cards and two tickets. Every ticket shows two locations, and you must connect them with a contiguous path of your ghost trains. Completing a ticket lets you reveal it, place it face up in front of you, and draw a new ticket.

On your turn, choose one of two main actions:

  • Draw cards: Take two parade float cards from the deck.
  • Claim a route: Discard cards matching a route’s color and length, then place your ghost trains on that path. For example, a two-space yellow route requires two yellow cards.

If paths become blocked and neither ticket can be completed, you may spend your entire turn discarding both tickets and drawing two new ones. This gives you a fresh chance to connect the required locations.

For an extra reward, create a continuous route from the Dark Forest region to the Seashore region to collect the “trick or treat” bonus. With its streamlined rules and recognizable route-claiming system, Ticket to Ride: Ghost Train offers a compact way to build spooky connections across the map.
