About this board game

Timeline: Histoire de France is a 15-minute chronological card game for 2–8 players, challenging you to arrange key moments from French history in the correct order.

Each player receives cards showing historical events, then places them one at a time alongside the cards already on the table. The central question is simple: did the event on your card happen before or after the events already played? To win, be the first player to correctly play all your cards.

The challenge can be surprisingly difficult. Was the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen published before or after the promulgation of the Civil Code? Did the assassination of Henri IV come before the victory of Yannick Noah at Roland Garros, or after it? Every placement tests your sense of history.

  • 55 cards focused on the history of France
  • 1 rules booklet
  • Play for around 15 minutes
  • Designed for 2–8 players

Timeline: Histoire de France presents a simple, family-friendly way to revisit major moments, from Vercingetorix returning arms to Caesar after the capture of the Bastille to more recent references such as COP 21. The cards are also compatible with cards from other Timeline themes, allowing different boxes to be combined for expanded chronological challenges.

Released in 2017, this compact game turns historical knowledge into an accessible race of timing, memory, and carefully judged decisions.
