About this board game

Timeline is a historical card game for 2-8 players, with games lasting about 15 minutes. Players compete to arrange cards in chronological order by placing each one correctly in a growing timeline.

Every card depicts a historical event, invention, or discovery on both sides. The year it occurred, was invented, or was discovered appears on only one side, so players must decide where the card belongs before checking the date.

On a turn, a player places one card from their hand into the row on the table. The date is then revealed. If the card fits in chronological order with all the other cards, it stays in place. If it is in the wrong position, the card is removed from play and the player takes another card from the deck.

• Incorrect placements are removed and replaced by another card from the deck.

The goal is to get rid of every card in your hand by placing each one correctly. The first player to do so wins, but a simultaneous finish can lead to an additional round: if several players go out in the same round, the other players are eliminated and each tied player receives one more card.

After this bonus round, a player who is the only one without cards wins. If more than one player still goes out together, play continues until a single player successfully empties their hand. With its date-revealing turns and shared chronological row, Timeline makes every placement matter.
