To the Green Fields Beyond: The Battle of Cambrai, 1917 is a two-player operational simulation of the first great tank battle in history, with an approximately 240-minute playing time.

Set during the Battle of Cambrai from 20 November to 7 December 1917, the game places one player in command of the British forces and the other in command of the German forces. Its central objective reflects the British hope of penetrating the German trenches and reaching the open country beyond.

The game includes three scenarios and a full campaign game lasting 17 turns. The British Breakthrough scenario is recommended as a starting point, while Battle for Bourlon focuses on a British offensive and German Counterattack places the British on the defensive, though they may still launch attacks.

To the Green Fields Beyond gives both players opportunities to take the offensive. Each turn represents 24 hours, and every hex on the map represents 1,250 yards from side to side, creating an operational view of the battle while leaving room for many decisions each turn.
