About this board game

Top Tier is a light party game for 4–10 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. Inspired by the internet phenomenon of tier lists, it challenges players to rank a group of contenders according to a secret category.

Each round, one player becomes the Tier Wizard and secretly draws a category card. The category determines what the contenders are being judged on, with possibilities ranging from who would be best at fighting a bear to who would have the most unread emails in their inbox.

Without knowing the category, the other players choose eight contenders for the round. These can be characters, celebrities, or even personal friends, making every game’s possibilities depend on the group’s own ideas and choices.

The Tier Wizard’s rankings stay hidden while everyone else works out the intended order. Once the category is revealed, players must use their judgment to determine how the eight contenders fit the theme and match the Wizard’s choices as closely as possible.
