About this board game
Tori is a hand management and tile placement game for 2–4 players, with a playing time of about 60 minutes. Set in Helsinki Market Square during the excitement of the 1952 Summer Olympics, it places you in the role of a stand holder competing for customers.
Tourists have arrived from across the world, and the market is filled with tempting goods and tough competition. Sell products associated with the nostalgic 1950s setting, including miniature replicas of the Paavo Nurmi statue, lemonade, ice cream, and Baltic herrings brought straight from the fishing boats.
In Tori, all players compete for the same customers. Use clever tactics to collect the best-paying customers for your stand, while watching where those customers may head next. Other players can also try to steal customers, so your plans must respond to a constantly changing market.
- Hand management: Make thoughtful use of the cards in your hand.
- Tile placement: Shape the market as you play.
- Shared customers: Compete directly for customers whose consumption needs change over time.
- Helsinki setting: Experience the atmosphere of the city’s Market Square during the 1952 Olympics.
Published in Finland on June 12, 2010, Tori was created by Kimmo Sorsamo and published by Competo / Marektoy. It continues Sorsamo’s Helsinki Game Trilogy, following the 2009 murder mystery game Epäillyt (The Suspects).
With its shared customer pool, shifting consumption needs, and direct competition between stands, Tori combines tactical planning with the lively atmosphere of a historic Helsinki marketplace. It was later reimplemented as Kairo.
