About this board game

Town Center is a city-building board game for 2–4 players, with a playing time of about 30 minutes. Over ten rounds, each player develops a personal town center by arranging and stacking cubes that represent different urban modules.

Every round, players gain two cubes of different colors through a non-random mechanism, then add them to their game board. Flats, shops, offices, generators, lifts, car parks, and the town hall can all be built and stacked according to the building rules. Careful planning helps create towers while arranging modules to generate as much influence as possible.

Each cube produces influence on adjacent land and on cubes directly above or below it. When players arrange their modules effectively, some can evolve and become larger in three dimensions, helping their cities grow both wider and higher.

  • Build a town center from colorful module cubes.
  • Stack structures into towers and develop modules in three dimensions.
  • Generate influence across adjacent land and vertically through your buildings.
  • Supply flats, shops, and lifts with electricity to make them more efficient.
  • Earn income from supplied shops and car parks.

The final income phase gives players money from shops and parking lots when they are supplied with electricity. At the end of the game, the size and height of each city contribute to its victory points, so efficient construction and reliable power are both essential.

With its focus on spatial planning, vertical construction, influence, and energy supply, Town Center challenges players to make every cube count. It is the second title in designer Alban Viard’s “Small City” trilogy, following Card City.
