Trails

About this board game

Trails is a 2–4 player adventure game that takes about 40 minutes, inviting players to explore iconic sites and national parks across the United States.

Players hike back and forth along the trail, collecting rocks, acorns, and leaves while taking pictures and encountering wildlife for useful bonuses. Each journey offers opportunities to gather resources and build a collection of points through exploration.

At the trailhead and trail end, players can turn in their resources to earn wilderness badges. After reaching one end of the trail, a player starts back in the opposite direction, creating a constantly changing rhythm of movement, collection, and decisions.

The trail changes as the sun sets. Whenever players visit the trail end, the sun moves closer to disappearing, while trail sites offer more powerful actions as night falls. These enhanced opportunities do not last forever, adding a clear sense of urgency to each hike.

When the sun leaves the trail, the last round of play takes place. The player with the most points from collected badges, photos taken, and bird sightings wins. With artwork from the Fifty-Nine Parks Print Series, Trails presents a standalone adventure in the PARKS series.
