Triad

About this board game

Triad is a two-player strategy game played in about 20 minutes, where players change die values, move across the board, and create patterns of three.

Each die displays one of three values: I, II, or III. On your turn, choose one of your dice and turn it to a side showing a different value. Then move that die a number of spaces equal to its new value.

Your central objective is to create triads. A triad is a line of three dice that either show the same number or show three different numbers. The line must also contain at least one die of each color, making both value and color important as you plan each move.

• Choose one of your dice.
• Change it to a different value.
• Move it the corresponding number of spaces.
• Form a triad and remove one die from that newly formed line.

Whenever you create a triad, you must remove one of your dice in the just-formed triad from the board. This removal brings you closer to your goal, while each turn requires careful consideration of value changes, movement, and the lines available to both players.

The first player to remove three dice from the board wins. With its ever-present focus on the number three, Triad offers a compact contest built around tactical positioning and creating the right combination at the right moment.
