About this board game

Trick to the Future is a trick-taking game for 2–5 players, played in about 40 minutes, in which clever card play and careful fuel management determine who makes it home through time.

Each round, players begin with a number of fuel rods on their player boards. These rods can be spent to change the values of cards in their hands, giving you a way to adapt your plays as the timeline shifts. The cards use seven-segment digital numbers, like those displayed on a digital clock.

Fuel rods are represented by additional segments that can be placed on a card to change its number. For example, adding a segment can turn a 1 into a 7, while changing a 7 into a 0 uses three fuel rods. Choosing when to spend this limited resource is central to mastering each round.

  • Play cards to compete in tricks and make successful time jumps.
  • Spend fuel rods to alter card values.
  • Collect points for tricks won and spent fuel rods.
  • Balance your tricks against your remaining fuel rods to avoid scoring nothing.

Every trick you win represents a successful time jump and earns points. You also score points for the spent fuel rods you collect during the round, but there is a dangerous condition: if you finish with more tricks won than unspent fuel rods, you score no points for that round.

After three rounds, the time traveler with the most points wins. With its blend of trick-taking decisions, adjustable card values, and tense resource management, Trick to the Future challenges players to plan their route through the past, present, and future without getting lost in time.
