About this board game
Trinidad is a strategy game for 1–5 players, played in about 150 minutes, in which Spanish families develop Buenos Aires over 120 years, from 1580 onward.
Set after Juan de Garay’s expedition and the founding of Ciudad de Trinidad, the game places players in charge of the city’s Spanish families. Resources are scarce, the Natives are alert to the danger posed by the settlers, and English Corsairs threaten the new Spanish settlement.
Players decide how they want the city to grow. They can promote commerce with Spain by constructing a Harbor and productive buildings, pursue major civic projects such as the Cathedral, Fort, and Cabildo, seek wealth, build an army, or collaborate with the Church.
Worker placement 2.0 is at the heart of Trinidad. Workers have multiple functions and can be used in several different ways, while action card combinations, character management, trading, and diplomacy add further strategic choices.
- Develop the city through commerce, production, and landmark construction.
- Link your policy to a famous city character to strengthen a specific skill.
- Choose whether to exploit resources and renew war with the Natives, or collaborate with them against the Corsairs.
- Use detailed miniatures representing historical buildings, workers, conquistadores, and warriors.
The city’s representatives do not agree on its future, making every policy decision consequential. Will you prioritize prosperity, military strength, religious cooperation, or alliances? Inspired by the 2010 board game Rio de la Plata, Trinidad offers a richly themed contest over the direction of a growing city.
