Twisted Cryptids

About this board game

Twisted Cryptids is an immersive strategy game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Take on the role of a Cryptid and compete to become a true legend while humans search the wilderness for signs of you.

Hunters, hikers, and researchers are scattering across your territory, creating opportunities—and danger. Build your myth by staging elaborate hoaxes, planting convincing decoys, and lurking discreetly in the shadows. You may reveal your true self from time to time, but vulnerability can come at a price.

Each player chooses a Cryptid with unique powers and hiding spots. Action cards determine what happens when you are spotted, adding uncertainty to every encounter. You also receive Hidden Trait cards with objectives to pursue throughout the game, rewarding successful plans with bonus Myth.

• Choose a Cryptid with distinctive powers and hiding spots.
• Use Action cards to determine the effects of being spotted.
• Work toward Hidden Trait objectives for bonus Myth.
• Manage sightings, hoaxes, decoys, and exposure across five rounds.

Once five rounds are complete, flip over the remaining Sightings in your Stacks and your Hidden Trait before determining the winner. Your final total of Myth decides whether your schemes have made you the most celebrated—or at least most elusive—Cryptid.

In Twisted Cryptids, outwit your fellow Cryptids, navigate your complicated relationship with humanity, and gather enough Myth to claim the title of True Legend before the Humans catch you.
