About this board game

Two Rooms is a cooperative card game for exactly two players, with a play time of about 30 minutes. Together, you must help a group of humans escape the House of Mist while outmaneuvering the vampires within.

The game is played in the two halves of its box: one room shows a red door, and the other shows a green door. A deck of 15 cards drives the action. On each turn, draw one card and choose which room will receive it.

  • Place drawn cards in either the red-door or green-door room.
  • Open a room to inspect its cards and resolve their effects.
  • Resolve effects in ascending numerical order.
  • Manage cards that may move between rooms or enter the casualty area.

When a room is opened, you look at the cards already there and carry out their effects. Some effects remove cards to the casualty area, while others make cards switch rooms. During this process, the other player must keep their eyes closed, creating a cooperative challenge built around carefully managing what each player knows.

Two Rooms includes four difficulty levels, allowing players to choose how demanding their escape should be. To win, the Cloaked Vampire must be placed in the casualty area, and the players must know the location of one of the human cards, Nina.

The group loses if Nina enters the casualty area, among several other possible failures, including running out of cards. With its two-room setting, escalating card effects, and shared information puzzle, Two Rooms turns a compact deck into a tense race for survival.
