About this expansion

Tybor the Builder: At the King’s Behest is a 2018 set of three modular additions for 2–4 players, with a play time of about 30 minutes. Its 24 new cards can be added to the Tybor the Builder base game individually or in any combination.

Each module introduces a different way to expand the game. Together, they add new objectives, a distinctive character type, and buildings with an extra role during final scoring.

  • Royal Decrees: Ten cards present royal decrees that can be fulfilled similarly to the Public Objectives from the base game. Unlike those objectives, decrees are fulfilled during the game and each one can be fulfilled by only one player.
  • The Councilmen: This module adds a new kind of character offering a new symbol and a corresponding bonus. When a Councilman becomes a citizen in your tableau, each Legal Text symbol is worth 1 point for every set of discounts in all four colors.
  • The Mystery: Four new buildings join the game. They provide the usual victory points and also count as one symbol of your choice for end-game scoring.

The four remaining cards are rule or deck cards, supporting the three modules as they are introduced. Because the additions are modular, players can choose which new elements to include rather than using everything at once.

Whether you want exclusive in-game objectives, a new scoring interaction through the Councilmen, or buildings that offer flexibility at the end, Tybor the Builder: At the King’s Behest gives the base game three distinct ways to vary its play.
