The game’s virtual setting is an abstract one, where the battlefield is a hexagonal board filled with white, black, and red pieces, each with its own purpose and power. The pieces represent three different types of forces: Tzaars, Tzarras, and Totts. These forces are ready to engage in battle, with the ultimate aim of overwhelming the opponent’s forces.

In terms of core mechanics, TZAAR is a two-player game revolving around capturing and stacking pieces. The game begins with 30 pieces for each player: 6 Tzaars, 9 Tzarras, and 15 Totts. The key strategy here is that players not only have to make their move but also have to choose which type of piece to eliminate from the game. This makes the game a highly strategic one, demanding players to carefully consider each move.

• Move: In their turn, a player can either make a capturing move or a strengthening move. A capturing move involves jumping over an opponent’s piece and claiming it while a strengthening move includes stacking your own pieces to increase their power.
• Elimination: Following the move, a player then decides which type of piece to eliminate: Tzaars, Tzarras, or Totts. The twist here is that you must always retain at least one of each type of your pieces on the board.
