About this board game

…und tschüss! is a card game for 4–6 players that takes about 30 minutes, combining low-card tactics with a musical-chairs-style race for scoring cards.

The deck contains blue cards numbered 1 to 15 and red cards worth -5 and -10. Players receive a hand, while a smaller number of scoring cards is placed on the table. With six players, for example, each player receives nine cards and five scoring cards are used.

Sort the scoring cards from lowest to highest. Everyone chooses a card from their hand and reveals it simultaneously. The player with the lowest played value claims the lowest scoring card, which may even be negative, then leaves the current contest.

The remaining players repeat the process, adding their played card to their running total. The player with the lowest total takes the next scoring card and drops out of the contest. This continues until only two players remain.

For the final scoring card, the rule changes: both remaining players add another card to their totals, and the player with the highest total wins it. That reversal creates the game’s central dilemma: when you cannot realistically compete for the prize, you may want to leave earlier—but choosing the wrong moment can leave you with no points.

  • Players: 4–6
  • Playing time: approximately 30 minutes
  • Deck: blue cards from 1 to 15, plus red -5 and -10 cards
  • Scoring: play twice through the deck; the highest score wins

With its changing incentives and scarce scoring cards, …und tschüss! rewards careful timing, flexible counting, and knowing when to bow out. It was released in 1997 as part of the Goldsieber à la Carte line of games.
