About this board game
Utopia Engine: Beast Hunter is a solo game for 1 player that takes about 30 minutes to play. You take the role of Mason the Hunter, a fugitive falsely accused of murder, with only 14 days to secure refuge from the pursuing Blazing Star Regiment.
The village elders will protect Mason only if he earns their trust by killing three terrible beasts. Each turn, you must decide how to spend your limited time while exploring the land, searching for clues, and preparing for the challenges ahead.
- Search for clues to locate the beasts.
- Build towers to help defend the village.
- Build equipment for the hunt.
- Rest to heal yourself.
The game uses the same basic mechanism as Utopia Engine: roll dice and use the results to resolve events on a game sheet. Your choices shape each day, forcing you to balance investigation, preparation, defense, and recovery before time runs out.
To win, Mason must defeat all three monsters and gain enough trust from the villagers to convince them to hide him. Failure to complete the hunt before the 14-day deadline leaves him vulnerable to arrest by the Blazing Star Regiment.
Utopia Engine: Beast Hunter requires a printed play sheet, two six-sided dice, and a pencil with an eraser. Its compact format combines exploration, resource decisions, healing, and monster hunting in a focused solo adventure.
