About this board game
Veto! Szlachecka Gra Karciana 2 edycja is a two-player, 30-minute collectible card game set in the historical world of 17th-century Poland, with its setting extending across Europe and Asia.
At its heart, Veto 2ed is a duel, but victory is not limited to military strength. The rules also support diplomacy and intrigue, giving players different ways to pursue their goals. Up to five factions can take part across the game’s wider faction system.
- Awanturnicy
- Dworscy
- Radziwiłłowie
- Wiśniowieccy
- Osmanowie, introduced through the Casus Belli expansion
The game draws on the historical atmosphere of Poland’s heyday and the age of the gentry. Its designers also referenced Polish historical and contemporary prose, including works associated with Nobel Prize winner Henryk Sienkiewicz and writer Jacek Komuda.
The second edition was first published by Wydawnictwo Imperium. In 2009, Kuźnia Gier reprinted the basic decks, added the Osmanowie starter deck, and began releasing further expansions. Historical Games Factory became the publisher in July 2014.
Veto! Szlachecka Gra Karciana 2 edycja developed through organized-play seasons, with card legality rotating as new sets appeared. These included the Basic season, Warchoły i Pijanice, Szpiedzy i Dyplomaci, and Czarty i Upiory, the latter introducing a supernatural element to the otherwise historical setting. Later releases also included Potop, beginning with Initium Calamitatis Regni.
