About this board game

Warmachine is a tabletop miniatures combat game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. First released in 2003 and published by Privateer Press, it places players in command of powerful forces on the battlefield.

Each player takes the role of an elite soldier-sorcerer known as a warcaster. Although a warcaster and their army form a formidable force, the warcaster’s true strength comes from magical control and coordination.

At the heart of the game are warjacks: steam-powered combat automatons that represent the pinnacle of military might in the Iron Kingdoms. Players direct these mighty machines as part of their force, bringing the setting’s distinctive blend of sorcery, soldiers, and steam-powered warfare to the tabletop.

Warmachine is supported by rule books that present different versions and stages of the rules. Warmachine Prime Remix is a full-color revised rule book containing all rules introduced in the first three expansions, while omitting model statistics.

  • Warmachine Prime Remix: a revised, full-color version of the rules, including rules from the first three expansions but not model stats.
  • Warmachine Prime Mk II: the second edition of the Warmachine rules, including rules and model stats for models from Warmachine Prime Remix.
  • Prime Mk II additions: one additional heavy warjack for each of the four factions.

With its focus on warcasters, magical command, and formidable steam-powered warjacks, Warmachine offers a focused miniatures combat experience set in the Iron Kingdoms. The game’s defining feature is the relationship between a warcaster and the machines they control, making command and coordination central to the battlefield experience.
