About this board game

Waroong Wars (Second Edition) is a card game for 3–5 players that takes about 45 minutes to play. Players become owners of traditional Indonesian food stalls, known as waroong, competing for customers and fame by preparing popular delicacies.

Each round begins with a shopping phase. Players draft ingredient cards simultaneously, gathering what they need for the menus they hope to cook. The available dishes include Indonesian favorites such as nasi campur, sate, and nasi goreng.

After shopping, players attempt to cook by matching their ingredient cards with menu cards. Successfully cooking a menu earns a customer card. These cards can provide useful advantages or give a player a way to disturb another player’s plan.

  • Simultaneous ingredient drafting
  • Menu cards requiring ingredient matches
  • Customer cards with advantages and disruptive effects
  • Popularity scoring through menus, customers, and VP tokens

The game ends after the relevant rounds of shopping, cooking, and customer acquisition. Players then tally the popularity points on their menu cards and customer cards, along with their VP tokens. The player with the highest total wins.

Released in 2018, this second edition gives Waroong Wars new artwork, streamlined and balanced rules, more food and customer options, and a new game system featuring a character card for each player. These additions expand the choices available while keeping the central focus on collecting ingredients, cooking dishes, and building popularity.
