Wings of War: Burning Drachens

Wings of War: Burning Drachens is a two-player World War I air-combat game that plays in about 20 minutes. Released in 2005, it is the third set in the Wings of War collection and uses the same simple core system as the first two sets.

This set features some of the most widely used airplanes of the First World War, including the Nieuport 17-23, Albatros D.III, and Pfalz D.III/D.IIIa. Players can also use optional altitude rules, anti-aircraft guns, and machine guns to add further variety to aerial engagements.

Observation balloons provide large cardboard targets for solitaire and two-player scenarios. These missions introduce incendiary bullets and the famous Le Prieur air-to-air rockets, giving balloon attacks a distinctive focus. Other scenarios involve trench-strafing missions for one or two players.

Wings of War: Burning Drachens is totally independent, so it can be played on its own. It can also be mixed with other sets in the collection to create larger scenarios, expanding the range of aircraft and missions available for WWI air combat.
