About this board game
Witch of Salem is a cooperative board game for 2–4 players, with an average play time of 60 minutes. Set in early 20th-century New England, it draws on Wolfgang Hohlbein’s book series and the mythos inspired by H. P. Lovecraft.
Portals to other dimensions have opened throughout Arkham, allowing terrible creatures and dark servants to threaten the world. As one of Salem’s master witch Robert Craven’s scholarly allies, you must work together to uncover the portals, confront monsters, and prevent an unidentified Great Old One from entering our reality.
Each turn follows a fixed sequence: new creatures enter the game, the active player takes actions, and an event card is drawn. Players must collect items, banish monsters, manage the threat of insanity, and use powerful magic seals to close all eight gates before the doom tracker runs out.
- Discover the active Great Old One before time runs out.
- Seal all eight portals across Arkham.
- Gather the correct combination of items and send a player to banish the Great Old One.
Victory requires completing all of these objectives, but the investigators face several paths to defeat. The game is lost if the doom track reaches its end, the Great Old One is not revealed in time, or all players become insane.
With player boards, creature and event cards, item and artifact markers, portal tiles, a battle die, and the Necron Stone, Witch of Salem combines cooperative planning with escalating supernatural danger. Work as a team to uncover the secrets of the Necronomicon, overcome mystical challenges, and bar the Great Old Ones from the inter-dimensional abyss.
