About this board game

Wizard Kittens is a semi-cooperative set collection card game for 2–4 players, with games lasting around 30 minutes. Players take the roles of wizard kittens who have accidentally released curses from the library’s restricted section.

The kittens must defeat all six curses before they are caught by the librarian, Professor Whispurr. Each turn is quick, but choosing which spell to use—and how to use it—creates meaningful decisions throughout the game.

Spells can change the state of play in several ways. Depending on the spell, a kitten may draw extra cards, sling cards at another player, discard cards from their own play area, or trade any two cards in play. No player may use the same spell on two consecutive turns.

  • Collect sets while working toward the shared goal of defeating the curses.
  • Use spells to manipulate cards and affect other players.
  • Watch the ritual component deck for the Professor Whispurr card.
  • Keep an eye on your play area and your secret Extra Credit objective.

The game ends when the last curse is defeated or when Professor Whispurr is drawn from the ritual component deck. If the kittens defeat the final curse, players tally their points, including points from a secret Extra Credit card, and the highest score wins.

If Professor Whispurr catches the kittens first, the Cleanest Paws Clause changes the result. Every kitten with 10 or more points loses, and among the remaining players, the kitten with the fewest cards in their play area wins. Wizard Kittens combines shared danger with individual scoring for a lively contest over spells, sets, and timing.
