About this board game
Wolfpack is a historical tactical game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 300 minutes, depicting German submarine wolfpacks facing Allied merchant convoys in the North Atlantic from late 1941 to early 1943.
Players take the role of German WWII submarine commanders. In solo play, one player commands 2–4 submarines; in team play, each player commands 1–2 submarines, depending on the player count. The convoy merchant ships and escort vessels are controlled by an AI system, while the submarine commanders work together to pursue victory.
Begin by approaching an Allied convoy and attempting to pass through the escort screen without being detected. If you succeed, maneuver into position for an attack run, choose the best firing angle, and make torpedo data computer calculations for each torpedo. Every decision matters as you balance the opportunity to sink merchant tonnage against the danger of being detected and sent to the bottom.
Damage control is also part of the command challenge. Issue orders to your crew, decide whether to run silent, and determine when to press the attack. The choices are yours as you manage your submarine through the changing dangers of a convoy engagement.
- Double-sided 34-by-22-inch map board for small and large convoys
- Four double-sided submarine player boards representing Type VII and Type IX submarines
- 240 cards, four countersheets, and multiple play aids
- Campaign information pad, rulebook, playbook, and storage box
With its solitaire and cooperative team formats, Wolfpack focuses on calculated movement, coordinated attacks, torpedo solutions, crew orders, and survival beneath the Allied escort screen.
