About this board game

Wombat Rescue is a board game for 1–4 players that plays in about 60 minutes. You take the role of a mama wombat whose burrow has been stormed by a dastardly dingo, leaving four baby wombats scattered around the environment.

Your goal is to find all four babies and bring them home. To do that, you must eat and digest food in order to produce poop cubes. These unusual cubes are used to build smell areas that help you navigate, find your missing babies, and chart a route back to safety.

Wombat Rescue draws on the real-world fact that wombats produce cube-shaped poop. With poor vision but an excellent sense of smell, wombats are theorized to use these cubes as smell markers. Their shape also makes them less likely to roll away or be moved.

The player who best plans their smell areas and moves most efficiently will prove victorious. In this 2015 game, every decision supports the rescue: produce the cubes you need, use them to understand your surroundings, and work toward recovering your entire family.
