About this board game

Woodlands is a 2018 board game for 2–4 players, with each session taking about 40 minutes. It transports players into a world of legends and fairy tales, where they build pathway networks to complete chapter goals and score points.

The game features four different stories, arranged with increasing difficulty. Each story is divided into several chapters, and every chapter presents a plastic overlay showing the collectibles, obstacles, and goal for that stage.

At the start of a chapter, every player works on their own personal playing board. Players build a network of pathways, planning their routes around the elements shown by the chapter’s overlay.

When players are satisfied with what they have built, the overlay is placed on top of their pathways. This reveals which goals each player has met and determines how many points they score for the chapter.

Two additional overlays can be used to increase the difficulty of any chapter. For an even greater challenge, players can also use the back side of their path tiles, adding another way to make the pathway-building puzzles more demanding.

With its chapter-based structure, fairy-tale setting, and adjustable difficulty, Woodlands offers a focused puzzle experience that develops across four stories.
