About this board game

Word Traveler is a cooperative city-exploration game for 2–5 players that plays in about 45 minutes. Each player becomes a tourist with a secret map of locations they want to visit, while the other players work together as locals to help interpret the journey.

On each turn, one player takes the role of the traveler and the others become the locals. The traveler knows only a few words of the local language, so they must rely on clues and the locals’ interpretations to identify the right destinations. The challenge is to communicate enough information to reach the intended locations without getting lost in translation.

Everyone is working toward the shared goal of visiting as many locations as possible. Along the way, the group can ideally collect all of the golden souvenirs found throughout the city, giving the trip an extra objective beyond simply finding the next stop.
