About this board game

WordCraft is a word game with area control and strategic paths to victory for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 40 minutes.

Set in 1420, the game casts players as members of a Society of Alchemists seeking to master 26 newly arrived ingredients—the letters of the English alphabet. These letters are divided into five categories according to how frequently they appear in English vocabulary, creating changing opportunities across the game.

WordCraft is played over three rounds. In each round, only some letters from every category are available. On a turn, form a word using the available letters, then place cubes on the Letter cards corresponding to the letters used. At the end of the round, the players with the majority of cubes on each Letter card score experience points.

• Craft words from the letters currently available.
• Compete for majorities on Letter cards.
• Use rarer letters to pursue valuable scoring opportunities.
• Fulfill Achievement cards through specific uses of the available letters.

Four different Achievement cards can be fulfilled during the game. Each turn offers another chance to use the available letters in the required ways, and at the end of the third round, players earn additional experience points based on how many times they fulfilled these objectives.

Success depends on more than finding a good word. You must also judge which letters to target, when to pursue achievements, and how to make the most of limited letter availability. Can you prove yourself the most capable alchemist and score the most experience points in WordCraft?
