About this board game
World of Warcraft Trading Card Game is a collectible card game for 2 players, with games lasting about 20 minutes. Based on the massively multiplayer online roleplaying game World of Warcraft, it places the Horde and Alliance in a battle for supremacy over Azeroth.
Each player chooses a hero from one of the two factions. Your hero leads a party and fights alongside allies, while the cards you play let you equip weapons and armor, cast spells, use talents, invite allies into your party, and complete quests.
- Hero-led battles: Your chosen hero fights alongside allies against opposing heroes and allies.
- Persistent damage: Damage remains on characters unless it is healed.
- Changing themes: Successive sets echo the current max-level content from the online game.
The objective is direct: defeat your opponent before they defeat you. Heroes and allies deal damage during the fight, but if a hero takes damage equal to or greater than their health, that player is out of the game.
The card pool spans many releases, including Heroes of Azeroth, Through the Dark Portal, Wrathgate, Icecrown, Worldbreaker, and Reign of Fire. The wider line also includes raid decks featuring threats such as Onyxia, Ragnaros the Firelord, Illidan Stormrage, Kel’Thuzad, Deathwing, and the Lich King.
Dungeon decks add cooperative-style encounters for a party of three heroes. Their decks play themselves, while heroes can level up, gain experience, and spend it improving player decks. With its faction conflict, iconic Warcraft characters, and broad range of expansions, World of Warcraft Trading Card Game offers a focused card battle rooted in Azeroth’s lore.
