About this board game

Yahtzee Deluxe Poker is a contract Yahtzee game for 2–6 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Players compete for valuable combination cards by bidding for the chance to roll five dice and complete the displayed challenge.

At the start, each player receives a stake of chips. One of seven cards is turned over, revealing the combination that must be rolled. Tougher combinations are worth more, creating a constant choice between pursuing a valuable card and protecting your chips.

• Bid for the roll: Players bid for the opportunity to attempt the current card.
• Bet on the outcome: Players who do not win the bid may wager for or against the roller.
• Build across attempts: Dice applied to the combination remain on the card when the roller fails, and bidding begins again for the partially completed challenge.
• Risk a last chance: A player low on cash can call “last chance” during bidding to win the bid automatically, but failing the combination costs that bidder the game.

If the roller succeeds, they recover their bid and receive the card’s stated value, along with any bets made against them. If the attempt fails, the roller loses the bid money, while any dice already applied stay in place for the next contest.

As the short card stack is worked through, players must balance bold bidding, side bets, and careful chip management. To win Yahtzee Deluxe Poker, a player must finish with the most chips and at least one card. Released in 1994, it combines dice-rolling uncertainty with competitive bidding and high-stakes decisions in a compact game.
