About this board game

Zagor: Odissea Americana is a 2–5 player exploration semi-cooperative game with an approximately 90-minute play time, based on the Italian comic story American Odyssey.

A rich and bizarre poet hires the crew of the vessel Athena to descend an uncharted river and write “the new Odyssey.” Zagor and Cico join the expedition, but the journey is filled with dangers. Players guide their own characters while also sharing access to the two neutral comic heroes.

At the beginning of the game, each player chooses one character from five available options. Every character has a distinct sheet showing life points, movement, special actions, combat value, and backpack space for carrying objects and treasures. As a character loses health, their ability to move across the map is also limited.

  • Character dice: Each turn, dice are rolled according to the life points of the characters in play, including Zagor and Cico.
  • Shared heroes: Zagor and Cico have their own colored dice and can be used by all players through the appropriate actions.
  • Flexible choices: Players may use a character die to perform an action with that character, or choose a Zagor or Cico die to move and act with the corresponding hero.

The expedition combines individual character management with a shared threat. Players must contend with dwindling health, restricted movement, combat, and the dangers of the river while trying to reach the end of the map.

When the game ends, the player with the most victory points wins. However, the group faces a common loss if the boat sinks before reaching the pier at the end of the map. In Zagor: Odissea Americana, personal success depends on surviving a journey that everyone must endure together.
