About this board game
Clinic is a hospital-management board game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes. As the owner of a large field near New York, each player builds an efficient hospital in three dimensions and competes to earn the most popularity.
Develop your hospital from scratch by constructing different modules, installing services, and recruiting doctors, nurses, and administrative staff. Each turn, you take three actions by playing one card, choosing among building, hosting patients, and hiring personnel.
- Expand the hospital through three-dimensional construction.
- Host patients and move people efficiently through the structure.
- Hire doctors, nurses, and administrative staff.
- Manage parking, fees, salaries, maintenance, and popularity points.
Every cube that enters the clinic arrives with a car, so parking takes up space that could otherwise be used for construction. You must also coordinate doctors and nurses with patients: care is provided when their colors match, representing both staff training and patient illness.
Caring for patients brings in money, which you need to cover the clinic’s ongoing costs and purchase popularity points. Time matters as well, so arranging patients, doctors, nurses, and staff efficiently within the 3D structure is central to running a successful hospital.
During the administrative phase, uncared-for patients become sicker, new patients enter the pre-admission room, and doctors become less knowledgeable about the diseases they face. Meanwhile, new doctors and nurses become available from their schools, giving you further options for developing your hospital.
At the end of Clinic, the player with the most popularity points and the least time spent during the game wins. Careful construction, staffing, patient management, and financial decisions all contribute to an efficient hospital.
