About this board game

Warrior Knights is a strategy game for 2–6 players with an approximate playing time of 180 minutes, first released in 1985. Players command armies, conquer cities, and compete to control more than half of the kingdom’s un-razed cities.

Each city under a player’s control provides income, helping pay for armies and city improvements. Players use their forces to take cities and rout opposing forces, steadily expanding their influence across the map.

The game’s distinctive feature is the Assembly, where players vote on motions drawn from a deck of Assembly cards. These motions can assign titles and appointments, including governors, ambassadors, and other offices. Holding an office may provide additional troops, giving political decisions a direct effect on military strength.

Assembly cards can also introduce concessions that create additional income for their holder. Players must therefore weigh the benefits of political support alongside the demands of conquest and control.

  • Military conflict: Use armies to conquer cities and rout opposing forces.
  • Economic development: Gain city income to fund armies and city improvements.
  • Political influence: Vote on Assembly motions for offices, titles, and concessions.
  • Shifting alliances: Forge and break agreements as players pursue their goals.

Alliances may be formed and broken as the contest develops, with players adapting their relationships to advance their own positions. In Warrior Knights, military power, city control, income, and Assembly politics all contribute to the struggle for victory.

The winner is the player who controls more than half of the kingdom’s un-razed cities, bringing the contest to a decisive conclusion.
